Life in Somerset
All of the day training programs (and other facilities) of Community Opportunities are located in and around the rapidly progressive town of Somerset in south-central Kentucky. Situated atop beautiful Lake Cumberland, the county seat of Pulaski County attracts 1.5 million tourists each year, with 1255 miles of shoreline against one of the largest man made lakes in the United States. Somerset and the surrounding areas are also in close proximity to the Daniel Boone National Forest, the Cumberland River, and Mammoth Cave. Somerset also provides convenience for easily accessing metropolitan areas, with Lexington, Louisville, and Knoxville within a few hours driving distance. At the ADT and Structured Day Program sites, qualified support staff assist individuals in acclimating themselves to being fully immersed in community living and thriving, active members of the societies in which they live. Whether it’s rehabilitating for community readiness or searching for the perfect job, the day program is a staple of life for many of the agency’s clients.
